DD is growing out of her (absolutely wonderful) 20" Islabike - and I am a bit (maybe a lot) horrified by the price of the 24", and looking at their size charts she might even need the 26" which costs £300 even without mudguards!
So now I'm trying to decide whether it is worth it. . . as far as I can see the Islabike weighs 10kg, whereas a Dawes 24" bike for example costs £200 but weighs 12kg - so I guess it is quite a bit more weight.
When we bought the Islabike we had a 2 mile ride to/from school straight up the mountain, so it really felt worth it to get a lighter bike. Now we live in town I'm not so sure. But then anywhere we cycle will be very hilly, so maybe a heavy bike will put her off (she is not super-sporty at all).
I guess what I really want is for someone to suggest a good lightweight bike for under £200
