When I try to type anything - even the log in password now - I type one letter and it is like i have pressed ENTER and it enters that one letter, so wont log in. Does that make sense?

If i do a sentence it automatically jumps to the next line so "Hello" looks like

H
e
l
l
o

any ideas what I can do?

Thank you

have you got something resting on the keyboard? sorry stupid question!

NetworkGuy · 24/05/2010 21:15

Or has anything dripped into the keyboard ?

Is this running Linux or Windows ?

StrawberriesAndCherries · 25/05/2010 11:16

Hiya, nothing resting on it no!

Not sure if anything has dripped on it - dont think so and it has been playing up for about a week so it would have cleared by now do you think? It is windows btw

Thanks both for answering!

Trying to think of anything which might cause it... hmmmmmmmmmm... nope... !

Might be worth checking on some magazine websites for a forum and post 'anyone seen this odd situation...'

Would be worth mentioning exactly what laptop it is and the version of Windows.

For example, I've been using a Windows 7 laptop recently (I bought a bargain at 250 quid, mentioned it to my sister but she rang every Asda Living within 50 mile radius and they were all sold out, so I'm giving her mine) and found that when I have a USB keyboard in, then from time to time there is a wierd 'reset' where lights on the keyboard flash and what I am typing has extra junk added... tried a second (identical, cheap, USB keyboard) and that does the same, now and then... v odd as have been using these keyboards with no problems on XP machines for 3+ years... seems like it is Win 7 !

Thank you NetworkGuy for all that info
