Ia a BUMBO worth it ????

ds1 had one and hated it, he used to throw up in it every time.
ds2 is nearly 6 months old and I thought I might buy one, specifically because we are going away with the inlaws in their caravan and would be nice to have somewhere to sit him and also somewhere to feed him.

I can get one from Kiddicare for £30 including delivery, but dh thinks its a waste of money.

Will he be in it for much longer?
Is there anything else that would be cheaper/better?

You can get cheaper versions but it's not coming to mind where from, in any case still 20 quid or thereabouts. I really liked ours and thought it was worth the money,
DD used to sit up on the kitchen worktop whilst I was getting dinner ready and it was a good way to get her involved in things without having to physically hold her IYSWIM.

DD loved her bumbo and we used it all the time, but I couldn't bring myself to pay £30 for one, think ours was £9 from ebay. Make sure you look for one locally you can collect if you do this though, as they're expensive to post so makes it not worth buying and paying postage generally. Do you know anyone who might have one stashed away and could lend you theirs for the trip?

I thought ours was worth the money. I used it for DS1 then my friend used it for her DD then I had it back for DS2 and it still looks like new. It was fab, and you can probably sell it on to recoup some of your costs (or look on ebay maybe?)

Dd hated hers and threw herself over the sides in a dramatic fashion.

The only problem we had was dd was pretty chubby. Didn't fit in it for long at all. Her thighs were huge and it was uncomfortable. I think there are some pics of her in her bumbo on my profile at 14 weeks ish. Certainly didn't fit by 6 months!

DS hated his, and could pull himself out of it by 7months (massive wriggler though_ my nephew inherited it and loves it. One of those things..

I wouldnt' spend £30 though for something that's only useful for such a short time.

I'd be tempted to spend £30 on a second-hand HandySitt, tbh, mosschops - you'll get years of use of out that, and it'll do the something to feed thing in perfectly well.

We got one of these as it lasts a lot longer than a bumbo, you can strap it to a chair as a booster. We got it on special offer so didn't pay that much for it.

Ok Ive found one on ebay, have never bid before, help me through this, its ends in 6hrs 53 minutes.

I have emailed 2 sellers to see if they would let me just buy it, is that allowed?

I bought one new when I had ds. He liked it and it was very handy esp. when visiting people/going away. Lent it to a friend who also found it useful and have since got it back and am using it for dd. Like another poster here, I put dd in it on the worktop so she is entertained whilst I cook - also use it for feeding when I can't be bothered to put her in the high chair.

If there are no bids on it then they can add a "buy it now" price for you to just buy it. They may not want to though if they think they can get more money by waiting till the end of the auction.

not worth it. some don't like them and even if they do, used for such a short time.
buy one second hand. i did. for a few pounds. used for a short time. fine. thus worth it.
