Hi, just got my breast pump and sterliser out of attic and have no instructions for steriliser. I know it needs 200ml water, but for how long do you put it in the microwave for? Anyone with one who could enlighten me?

Ours was for 9 minutes on full power.

nailpolish · 03/08/2005 18:11

mine is 5 mins full power, i have an 850watt micro

georginars · 03/08/2005 18:12

mine is 1000 watts and it's 5 minutes too

WigWamBam · 03/08/2005 18:14

Ours may be an older model, our microwave is 1000 watts and the instructions definitely said 9 minutes. I did it so often that they are permanently engraved into my brain

georginars · 03/08/2005 18:15

may well be WWB - only bought mine about 10 months ago. maybe pinkmama's is older too..

nailpolish · 03/08/2005 18:18

mines only 10 mths old too

Libb · 03/08/2005 18:20

Ours is 4 mins at top whack and 200mls of water

WigWamBam · 03/08/2005 18:20

Mine's over 4 years old - if yours is a newer one, pinkmama, ignore me completely

Libb · 03/08/2005 18:21

and everything will stay sterilised for upto 3 hours if you don't take the lid off - do you want my instructions? (I have them for the Avent breast pump too)

LilacLotus · 03/08/2005 18:21

4 mins + leave for 2mins 850w

georginars · 03/08/2005 18:29

ah. Think may have been doing mine for too long all this time - no idea where my instructions are either but the microwave is actually 1100 Watts. never mind!

Thank you all! Mumsnet never ceases to amaze me, whatever you need to know someone will come up with the answer . Mine must be just over 3 years old. I seem to remember it been quite quick, 4 minutes sounds about right. Its the Avent express steamer (how can one microwave steamer be faster than antoher) so maybe thats why its not as long as 10. Thanks for the offer of the instructions, but I reckon that will do.

Thanks
