Which makes/ models are cheaper to insure

DH has asked me to ask. He's jst passed his test and he's freaking out. He's getting quotes of around £1000 for a Renault Megane. It's kind of what I expected, but he's shocked.

Are there any modles that are well known for being cheap to insure?

ford, anything which there are lots ofand the spares are cheap, anythng really low cc engine that can't go fast. Have you tryed putting a woman of 40 on the insurance aswell - that may bring the price down
