Does anyone have a 'recipe' for making playdoh? I know it's quite easy but have forgotton the ingredients.

Thanks.

Hi, this one's from my sister, who's a primary school teacher:

4 cups plain flour
4 cups water
2 cups salt
8 tsp cream of tartar
4 tbl cooking oil
colouring/flavouring/smell! as required

Mix together in a saucepan Cook over low heat. Stir until it gets thick. Knead and cool. Lasts 6-8 weeks in air-tight container.

Quick basic playdough:
2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
1 cup cold water
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Just mix it all together. Doesn't last as long as "cooked" recipes but very quick!

Longer lasting dough:
2 teaspoons cream of tartar (find in the supermarket's home baking section!)
1 cup plain flour
half cup salt
1 tablespoon oil
1 cup water
Mix to form a smooth paste and cook SLOWLY in a saucepan until the dough comes away from side of pan and forms a ball. When cool enough, knead for 3 or 4 mins. This makes enough to fill an average sized marg tub! Add food colouring to water before starting if you want nice colours.

I cook mine in the microwave - about 7 - 10 mins on a very low setting. Whatever you use to cook it, put the pan to soak IMMEDIATELY after cooking or it's hell to get off.
Store dough in fridge.
