Where can I buy wooden soldiers?

I've tried everywhere and can't get any. We've looked at the plastic ones but they seem too realistically aggressive and dd doesn't like them because they frighten her. I've tried ebay, but the only ones I could find there were collector's items and not really to be used as toys.

Anyone know where I can get a set from?

Oooh, I'm similarly looking for some toy pirates to go with a wooden pirate ship. It's quite hard to find little figures that are sort of realistic but not too scary. If I get anywhere with my search I'll let you know.

Thanks, wilbur!

Have you tried the letterbox catalogue? They do lots of great "retro" toys. I've got some great fireman to go on a wooden fire engine from them. Are we allowed to post websites? It's www.letterbox.co.uk.

I've had a look but they only have the aggressive-looking ones. Thanks anyway.

why does it have to be soldiers ?? in my thinking they will all look aggressive (its their job !)

WigWamBam · 01/08/2005 14:48

They have to be soldiers because she wants to play with her fort but doesn't think that the dolls from her doll's house look quite right, but she doesn't like the plastic, "realistic" ones you can get. I'm looking for the old-fashioned wooden soldiers that you used to be able to get, with the arms straight down by their sides, usually just painted red and blue and with busbies.

WigWamBam · 01/08/2005 15:23

Lunachic, I wanted something a bit less aggressive (yes, I know - wussy soldiers )

jabm - would you be able to find out for me how much he charges?

com - thank you, those would be good if I can't find the kind I'm looking for. Smiling and colourful is good! Her fort is quite big so I think the size would be OK.

Thanks all!

The same manufacturer does some smaller non flexi ones which you'd like in a net bag (Tall black caps and red uniforms in different smiley poses) at about 6.99 but don't know who sells them, but they are in the catalogue...if I can find them i will post later...

I've got a set of little soldiers which are about 2 inches high - they come in a wooden egg decorated with painted soldiers, and a little wooden ball, and are actualy mini skittles. They sound just what you're looking for ..... but I can't remember where they came from and can't find them on the web
