Broadband AND telephone package? Anyone got one?

I'm paying £25 per month for broadband (2mb line/unlimited download)

plus

£15 per month BT rental (I only make about £4 per month telephone calls - I'm tempted to ditch the landline altogether)

SO
Is anyone using a broadband AND telephone provider - and would you recommend it?

think any of these are going to put the bills up too much so I may be stuck with a slow dial up

I just called BT to get the broadband reduced to limited downloads, i.e. £17.99 a month instead of £25, and they can't do because we have a Mac - apparently you need a different router for the cheap one and it's not compatible with Macs.

grrrr

Anyone else had this problem and got round it (without spending all the money saved on a new router)?

kinda off topic but i need to plug a product here....

plus.net. 14.99 a month, unlimited downloads, number 1 rated in the UK. incredible customer service and hardcore techies say it's the fastest bad boy around. i've just signed up and bought their bog standard wireless router and i'm going to hook up tonight. they had me fully activated with my new hardware within four working days. fantastic.

not really off topic, daddycool, just the information I'm after.

just checked out plusnet and if you cancel you pay a declining part of the setup costs, they are only "free" if you stay with the firm for years. Also pricing structure requires careful examination. Interesting though.

We have a good 'bundle' with onetel - broadband, free phone calls in UK except some mobiles, AND mobile with 60 mins/month free calls - all comes to about £40/month but BT line rental is on top of that. No idea how good the broadband is, but seems to work fine..
