Have just written off my Renault Scenic spectacularly, what next?!

In a moment of sheer stupidity, I managed to drive my Renault Scenic into the back of a riot van that was near enough at a standstill. Not cool.

It's been verified as a total loss today, so we are awaiting payment (about £3,500) to go ahead and get a replacement. We can probably add another £2,500, taking our budget to £6,000.

We were quite happy with the Renault, although it was an automatic so fuel consumption ridiculous. So, can anyone recommend something similar/better for us. Our needs: 1DS 18 months, 2nd DC due in September. We drive to visit friends/family all over hte country quite frequently, so need plenty of space.

We're not particularly snobby when it comes to cars, we just want something that will get us from a to b safely.

What do you all reckon?

TIA.

Oops.

Someone drove into the back of our first Scenic on hols last year, writing it off. We were boring and got another one 2 years younger (2002).

Get another Scenic. We wanted a diesel one, but just got a 1.6 when the old one was 1.4.

I love our Scenic. It is not an automatic and we have very good fuel consumption. We bought it a year ago as an ex-mobility car, therefore 3 years old, cost £4.999 less trade in.

Get a Multipla. Brilliant car.
