Ceramic hair straightners.

Nothing at all to do with kids I know but I am after a set of these and was wondering which ones are the best.

God knows how I know this one but I've heard of ceramic hair straightners called something like GHD I think....stands for Good Hair Day! Hope that's some help!! (from the queen of trivia!)

GHD are the best around - I have coloured fairly wild hair and with one swipe of the GHD straighteners it's like someone elses hair - smooth and silky - they really are great. Although priced around £90-£100 I think they are really worth it. I've had mine for approx. 8 months and if they blew tomorrow I would go and buy another pair !

Another vote for GHD, I got mine from a dealer on Ebay, paid via credit card and they arrived the next day. I would be crushed if anything happened to them ! Cost £90 I think. Go for it!

Toni and Guy sell them (GHD ones) for £95 - I invested after much deliberating - and they are brilliant! appallingly expensive though!

Another vote for GHD - they transform my hair from wild, bushy, frizz ball to sleek and shiny Jennifor Aniston straigtness! You must buy them and when you do you'll wonder how you ever managed without them!

I was thinking of getting these but apalled at the price !!! They retail at about EURO150 here. I may 'ask' for them for my Birthday but only if they really are all that good. Does anyone think they are no good?

Yes they are supposed to be easier on your hair. Because of the ceramic plates your hair has more protection or something like that. They also heat up and are ready for use in about 3 seconds - no joke!

Another vote for GHD. I have the frizziest, curliest hair that used to take about an hour to blow dry (so I just let it go mad usually!). The GHD can get it straight in 20 mins. Love the thing - have panic attacks about thought of it blowing up. Definitely worth the hefty price. Look online to see if you can get a better deal though.

Any tips on how to justify taking £95 from the joint account to buy hair straighteners to dh?

I bought some GHDs from ebay for £95 and I too have really thick, frizzy hair with kinks in that no other hair appliance has ever been able to eradicate, but the GHDs are FANTASTIC - took less than 10 mins to go from horrible frizz to straight silkiness. Don't know what to suggest about justifying the cost to dh - try convincing him you'll save money on trips to the hairdresser?!

I got my GHD straightners online from Jason Shankey, who are in Northern Ireland, I think. They sometimes have special offers. And I agree, the best money I ever spent (they were about £85 last summer.)

if you plan to use them regularly then it is best to go for the ceramic ones - and you will get hooked! my only niggle with them is where to put them while they heat up and cool down - a stand of some sort would have been useful - but i cant think of anything else to moan about re, the ghd ones - i think there is a previous thread on this subject - i checked it out before i bought mine - and there were complimentary comments on there about the ghd ones too.

Just had a look at SamboM's link. These are Hair Tools hair straighteners - "GHD style". I have these, they are very good, the next best thing to GHD I understand. I bought them online for £46 but unfortunately I can't remember where, try searching on Google.

Lillibet my hair has thick blonde foils and past shoulder length. I blow dry it straight everyday but takes ages.I did have a Braun set of straighteners but the plates always pulled at my hair.

Thank you all for this thread. Ordered myself some GHD plates and they arrived yesterday. I will now be auditioning to do Jennifer Anniston hair ads, when she can't do them herself.
Takes me less than 10 mins to go from wild, kinky, frizzy mess to smooth and sleek. Worth every penny!
