Honda CRV or Toyota RAV4

Which one would you chose?
We have been test driving a lovely CRV 2007 model, with automatic gears, petrol engine, and it is like cruising around in an silent, cushioned car flying through clouds.

The RAV has less suspension, and is like a tractor in comparison. We drove a 2006 model ( same issue with the 2008) automatic petrol engine. It was a noisier, and more bumpy ride. Yet better than the horrid old Fiat Stilo (what posessed me to buy this car I dont know) we are currently driving.

The toyota is cheaper.

Is it worth paying the premium of a car which seem so luxirous and exuberant? Do we NEED this?

I drive a Rav which is practically silent and very smooth. I love it but I am looking to get rid of it as it costs so much to run. I am hoping to get a Toyota Urban Cruiser, have you looked at these?

Both the Honda and the Rav will cost a mint on fuel and car tax. Just one thing to think about.

By the way in all the snow this year, I did not get stuck, My Rav was brill!

That is interesting. Do you have the Sport ?
We have been testdriving Sport, and found the suspension rather FIRM. Then we tried another one, not Sport, and it had a much softer suspension.

Could anyone chip into this discussion, with safety ratings? Are they similar? If safety was the no1 concern, which would you buy? (Maybe 2007 models)

I have driven both (dh had each for about 6 months as company cars) and the CRV was far and away the better car. I have to admit I wasn't keen on the idea of the CRV (not sure why) and at the time I was driving an XC90 but seriously the Honda and the Volvo were comparable. Most of the time I let dh have the Volvo so I could drive the CRV.

I am now looking to change cars again (currently in a mini but have another baby on the way) and will almost certainly go for a CRV - even over the XC90.

Thanks, NancyDrew. Do you happen to remember if there were isofix fixings across all three seats in the back of the CRV?
