..have been reading old threads and have just about convinced myself to try a mooncup but am not sure about size ... I've had 2 elective secctions and am over 30 but will I really need the bigger size? Even the small one sounds too big!! Thanks!

Well, you all inspired me to give it a go - too impatient to wait for an online order so got one from Boots last week. Have had a practise run - rather tricky to get it uncurling IYKWIM and getting it popping out into shape. Saying that, it must have had a good suction as was tricky to remove to say the least - can totally relate to Millie?s heart stopping moments... Bit nervous about using it "for real" but am determined to give it a chance
Only on mumsnet eh?

Millie, you don't have to be on to try it. I practised for weeks before, just placing it in and then getting it out again. I rinsed it under the sink and left it slightly wet to help insertion!

It does get easier, I definately agree about bearing down before hand and then aiming to grab the bottom part of the cup, that reminds you to break the suction as well!

Do they have them in all Boots or just larger ones? And (maybe stupid question) but are they with the other sanitary protection or somewhere else?

Gillian76 · 17/08/2005 08:42

Franny they had both sizes in Glasgow when I went. And yes, with the sanitary protection

Gillian76 · 17/08/2005 08:42

Sorry, just got you! It was quite a large store !

Bumping this up again with a few questions for seasoned users! I'm beginning to come to terms with this thing but ...

Sterilising: If I don't use it, say overnight, do I need to sterlise again before using? Did sterlise it after a month in it's bag but I literally mean overnight.

Leakage ... what am I doing wrong? Not much, but enough. Suspect it's either seal or too low down.

Think that's all!

Nice! I'm not normally sterile if I go in for an operation, but I'd still bloody hope their stuff was!!!!

Millie1 · 31/08/2005 09:37

Thanks Hausfrau ... lovely about the sterile bit too!
