The Miele hoovers look like they're twice as powerful as your average Dyson.
Our Dyson just died but I don't know if I can bear to go back to BAGS
Is it worth the faff for the extra vavavoom?

I would be interested too...

StealthPolarBear · 10/04/2010 15:49

How are bags more faff exactly?
I believe that if bagless came first people would be going WOW at the bags - no dust flying everywhere, no banging the damn thing trying to get the dust out..

Furball · 10/04/2010 15:59

I've converted from 2 x dysons to miele cylinder thing.

I'm no domestic goddess but wouldn't go back.

The dust bags are great, just chuck em in the bin. No dust cloud etc on emptying...

and...mine was only £150 from John Lewis....Bargain.

IMHO Tis harder work to start with until you get used to the difference

Housemum · 11/04/2010 10:02

I'm emptying my Dyson (upright standard size) once a week - so just how much would that cost me in bags?

Danthe4th · 11/04/2010 10:10

always had a miele and would never buy anything else, bags can be stuffed full and it will still suck.
We are a family of 6 and I replace the bag every 8 weeksish, I can't really remember and the bags are about £1.50 each again i can't really remember.

chachachachacha · 11/04/2010 10:10

I love my miele but have never had a dyson - they seem to compact all the dust etc in the bag so I imagine if you're emptying a dyson once a week you could probably do a bag a month.

Doodlez · 11/04/2010 10:13

Loathe Dyson. Love my SEBO. Better than Miele.

OhFuck · 11/04/2010 10:15

We have a Miele and it's great. We have 2 dogs and a cat and a child and a muddy garden so it has its work cut out. I reckon if we hoovered as often as we should it would cost a fortune in bags (I can nearly fill one by hoovering the house once on a bad day - how awful is that?!) BUT you can get cheap versions online which are just as good. I agree with whoever said it still sucks even when full.

I'd never, ever go back to Dyson - horrid heavy smelly things. Urgh.

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 11/04/2010 11:10

OhFuck can you link to the cheaper bags please? We have new carpets so all the fluff from them is costing me a fortune in Miele bags. Ta muchly.

OP, we had a dyson and I loathed it, Miele is fab IMHO.

WorzselMummage · 11/04/2010 11:19

I can't wait for my dyson to die so I can get a miele

I don't know if my dyson is exceptiovally shit or my mothers miele exceptionally good though. My dyson is a hatefully thing.

picc · 11/04/2010 11:41

Another vote for a Miele!

Hate vaccuuming, love the miele....

(but also never had a Dyson, just lots of really crappy student vaccuums, that created more dust than they sucked up!)

addictedtolatte · 11/04/2010 11:55

definataly miele. they suck everything up thats not nailed to the floor lol the price of the hoover bags is worth it in the long run

Abundantia · 11/04/2010 12:06

I just switched to a Miele and it's bloody fantastic. My last one was a Dyson and I thought that was good, but this is even better. Haven't changed a bag yet though.

OhFuck · 11/04/2010 18:44

Link to el cheapo bags

A few of us at work get together and buy loads at a time to save on postage [tightarse]

OhFuck · 11/04/2010 18:45

Oooooooh I've just noticed they're now only £1 postage regardless of quantity so cheap delivery too ... I'm not that tight

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 11/04/2010 20:24

Thanks for that OhFuck will get some ordered.

smokinaces · 11/04/2010 20:29

Miele all the way. I went from 5 vacuums in 2 years to my Miele 2 years ago that is still going strong. Bag change every 2-3 months, filter change once a year, always sucks, always picks up, light and easy to use (even my DS1 3.5 can do it!) and I love it. Will never use anything but now.

Only annoying thing is I took out extended warranty as I always broke my vacuums so quick - and havent needed it at all
