I havent been able to connect to the internet for a few months. Has anyone else had this problem and managed to sort it themselves?

PC World couldnt help, so I have emailed a User Group about it, but thought I would ask the clever peeps on here

I go into Settings and try to open Network Centre but it wont open

aaarrrgghh!!

We have an Aspire one and use Ubuntu. We had problems connecting to the internet at first but it seems to be our router that's the problem.

Dh has got round that somehow...will ask him when he gets in.

Have just turned it off and on again and I have to go through the same process to connect it, do you know if there is anyway to make it connect without doing it every time? No problem if I have to, just thought I would ask

Thank you!

Hi, I've succumbed to "darling daughter" and signed up, so this is still Loopymumsy's Dad.

First, I was able to help last time in part because I had access to my daughter's Aspire; now I don't, so we'll have to see how it goes ...

Having got that out of the way, you say you have the same problem as before. Do you mean you can't connect at all, or just that it's not automatic like it should be? And, have you worked your way through all the stuff I gave you last time? Lastly, on a parallel tack, have you recently installed any updates, or any new software?

Cheers

OldAndBold · 20/05/2010 20:34

OK, our posts crossed, but I'd still like a bit more detail. In particular, referring to my first post on 27 Mar, what do you get after entering "sudo nm-applet &" in the terminal and giving your password?

Hello Mr OldandBold - great name!!!!
Welcome officially to Mumsnet, hope you enjoy wasting copious amounts of time the site

I have followed all the above you set for me and when i get to

this point-

"Start Terminal as we've done before, and enter the following (probably best to copy and paste from here):

sudo mousepad "/etc/xdg/autostart/services no wait.desktop"

You should then see the file open as before

"

all it says is command not found
