DD1 is 6 and has been saying for ages that she wants to learn Spanish, we're going to France for holiday this year so shes decided to learn French instead. She's seen Muzzy but its very expensive - is it worth it? Are there any other schemes around that you can recommend - TIA

Have you seen if there's a Le Club Francais in your area? Sometimes the adult ed centres run family language courses too.

Was originally looking for something we could all do at home together rather than going to a more formal lesson which is why I though Muzzy, but searched more on MN and it seems to be thought of as pretty much useless. Thanks for getting back to me though - will have a look at some books and CDs in the shops.

Anyone else got any ideas?

My DS goes to La Jolie Ronde classes- he also wanted to do Spanish but I persuaded him to do French - he is in a small class of 5 and has started on what they call their nursery progamme the basics really. He absolutely loves it, he has his own activity book and cant wait to do his homework as soon as we get back!

I went to le club francais when I was a kid (I'm 23) - it was fab... no idea how much it cost my parents though! Might go look it up now...

I'm actually getting Muzzy soon - bit peeved about the cost but I had the French one as a kid and really reaped the benefits.

Thank you. I've contacted La Jolie Ronde, just waiting to hear back, will also look at getting some games cds for home
