Has anyone used Chips Away, or any equivalent mobile car body repair service?

How did you find them? Did they stick to the price quoted or did other things get added on?

Just had 2 men from Chips Away round to give me a quote for repairing a few scrapes on a car. The price was ok, I thought (£120 for 2 small areas of scratches on the bumper), but I didn't trust the men at all. They turned up late, didn't apologise for that, looked at the damaged area in the dark (we have one dim street light), and said they'd want to take the car away rather than fix it in situ. They seemed 'shifty' somehow.

I have used them in the past and was very pleased. Guy did a great job on the spot at my work. I think they are a franchise so quality may vary. Best phone around for other firms if you are not sure

I used Chipsaway recently; my damaged bumper was repaired outside my house. £150. Agree with Granite; think they are a franchise, so it sounds like you've been unlucky in the shifty stakes, as my guy was perfectly pleasant.

They are all Franchisees so vary dramatically. The one in our town is FAB and now has a permanent garage always fully booked, rather than a mobile van. He does all the local main dealer scuffs and scrapes on the forecourts so must be good.

We use Chipsaway & Dentsaway, and recommend them to friends. I WOULD ask how long they personally have been doing the job though. Experience counts, and some colours are easier to match than others.

Thank you all. I think I've just been unlucky with the men I saw. I've found 2 alternative local firms that I'll try instead.
