"Cool" trainers for DS age 3yrs 9 months with G fitting feet!

My DS has wide feet but clarks have the most boring styles of trainer imaginable.

DH and I are both into shoes and have collections of trainers of all different brands. Nike 6.0, Converse in many colours, Vans, and so the list goes on. We would love to be able to buy some 'cool' skate type or converse type trainers for our little boy but NOT at the expense of his foot health.

So my question is have any of you good folk bought any interesting styles of trainers for your children who also have wide feet??

A long shot I am sure!

DS2 has H width feet but buying standard trainers that fit has never been a problem.

Skechers or Geox

Thanks for your help both. That is comforting soupdragon I bought DS some converse ages ago - he was still a size 6 but they never fitted properly. I may try boots this time though... not sure

you can sonetimes get timberland style trainers and whatnot at tkmaxx

I just re read my post and don't want to sound shallow/label obsessed.

I did buy DS some really nice 'skate style' trainers from clarks when he was about 20 months and got several comments saying "Where did you get those?" and "Clarks...really?!?!" but more recently the look seems to be for white football type trainers which I am not at all keen on but have to do.

Thanks for all the helpful comments folks!

ds is also a G fitting and we have found that most skate/surf brands do tend to be wider, than your average running style trainers. However, it is still very much on a pair by pair basis. Try Bratano or Sports Direct for plenty of choice of different brands or if you have a surf shop near you they do nice kids shoes. Vans were plenty wide enough for ds, but like a i say it really depends on the style.

I've not tried ds in sketchers, however, i have really wide feet too and they are the only brand I can rely on fitting me widthways,so thats a good tip. agree I dislike the trainers in clarks also, all that shiney red or silver.

I think Converse tend to be narrow so might not suit your DSs feet. I have narrow feet and mine fit perfectly

another vote for Skechers

Thanks everyone - glad I am not stuck with Clarks! Converse are lovely but I agree are narrow.

Ds is a G fitting though I've never had a problem getting trainers to fit. Though I have had two pairs of G width clarks shoes that were fitted which marked his feet badly!

I admit though that we've never really branched out with trainers either though. It's usually just Adidas superstars.Always needs a size bigger than any other shoe though, but I'm the same with Adidas.

It's a shame to hear Converse are narrow though as I was thinking of getting him some this summer.

Thanks feedthegoat

Are they the 'shell toes'? I had some a couple of years back and they rubbed the living hell out of my little toes (but I do have seriously odd shaped feet). However a work colleague had some at the same time as did her son and daughter 11 and 9 respectively and they all found them really comfortable so maybe I should try...

Yes shivster they are. I've got a pair at the moment, pearlised snakeskin style with yellow soles, I love them!

They have never rubbed me.Ds has had a few pairs with no problems at all.
