Requirements are the usual ones:
Value for money
Good suction etc

i got a dyson dc27(all floors) last week and i love it, it sucks everything but the only thing i have to compare it with is a dc03, was £50 cheaper in argos than currys or comet and we got a £50 argos voucher.

I was always a cheap vacuum person, spend £70, it lasted 14-15 months, buy another.

Bought a Miele (cat&dog) 2 years ago (£180) and haven't looked back. Am happy to return to a bagged vacuum and the suction is as good today as it was when I bought it. All tools still work and are not broken. The vacuum itself looks quite dog eared (but I vacuum once a day every day and am not gentle with it) but no bits have broken off and I don't see any reason why it won't still be working in another 2 years at least, which will have saved me money.

Can't be doing with Dysons, I think bagless is a crock.

Thanks for the suggestions - we too have looked at bag/less options; will google the Miele. Have had a dyson before and wasn't that impressed but I know there are now more models available....

I'm with Pfft - Miele all the way. We have 2 indoor cats and it's brilliant!

Henry is the way to go!
Had two dysons in 5years,but have had our Henry for 8yrs and going strong.
Amazingly long cord, friends husband has a carpet shop and he swears by Henry too.

Fizzylemonade · 13/02/2010 21:08

Had my dyson 11 years, still going strong, it has been used and abused. Got to love the dyson.

I am looking at the Henry Xtra at the moment as apparently better when got dog/cat hair... wondered if anyone had one? This is after Dyson number 2 has died!!!
