Bugaboo - do I need to buy a new matress for a secondhand buggy

Hi

I, like many others, am struggling to pick a buggy for my first baby due in April. I like the Bugaboo Chameleon, but its so expensive we're thinking of buying a secondhand one.

The question I had was do I need to buy a new matress for the carrycot? The lady in John Lewis said each child should have a new mattress for the bedroom cot, and given the baby will probably be sleeping in the carrycot a fair bit, I thought I might need a new mattress for the Bugaboo...

Yours confused!!!

PS - If I do, des anyone know where I can get a new mattress?

Personally I think I would get a new mattress, you can get a Bugaboo mattress for about £50 or why not contact a nursery store and they will have no problem getting you a mattress made to measure for much less? The only problem being that it will not be in the matching black

i bought a second hand bugaboo and replaced the mattress - jsut look up suppliers in your area that sell bugaboos (or phone bugaboo and they will tell you - they have great customer service - the delivered the instructions to me priority mail as i phoned them to say i had bought one without instructions!) - then the shop/retailer will just order it for you. I paid around £25 for it i think.

However if the bugaboo has only being used once i am not sure you need a new matress - you can put a moses basket sheet around the mattress - and as most babies are only on this mattress for 4-6 months it doesnt really have to much wear and tear.

I would recommend a second had bugaboo, i bought one off ebay, and sold it on for almost the same price i bought it for .....
