I got the Pirate Ship for my ds when he was about 6 and it took me ALL DAY to put the damned thing together! nightmare I suppose if you buy a second hand one then someone else has done all that for you though!

LIZS · 04/07/2005 15:18

We have this one however there is also a cheaper Spscial Edition one with red plastic sails around atm and a new, slightly smaller one which is due out soon, both of which are much cheaper but look good fun. We also have a lagoon, superset island and jail , but as the Pirate range is being relaunched so you could wait for the new sets ( the new island set is being packaged as a carry along treasure chest) or possibly pick up any residual stock reduced in the sales. You can also buy extra bits of landscape, figures and sails etc direct from Playmobil if you do buy second hand but it is missing pieces.

We have the same one as Lizs and to be honest, where it scores is that once fully rigged (by dh in your house by the sound of things lisalisa) it is handsome enough to sit on a bookcase or shelf rather than be tidied away.

It is also I guess more detailed than the smaller one. But all Playmobil is good value lisalisa so I would just keep your eyes peeled for the best bargains and happy shopping.

Fio2 · 04/07/2005 15:33

my ds has asked specifically for this too lisalisa

LIZS · 04/07/2005 15:40

It is lovely, we also leave it out, and I'm tempted to get one of the smaller ones for battles but tbh ds has never really played with all the detail of this one to its full potential. I think as long as it has sails, a cannon or 2 , a few hidey holes and plenty of figures and accessories he would be just as happy. We've never floated it for example. We also have the elc plastic mat which creates a great landscape and protects the floor a bit.

Marina · 04/07/2005 16:05

snap LIZS. That mat was a big bargain I thought.

Just to confuse things DD age 6 has the Noah's Ark, she likes it and takes it in the bath with her. It was £50 from Toys R Us. They did have them on Ebay new but post was expensive.

gingernut · 04/07/2005 17:00

lisalisa, did you know that you can buy any missing bits for playmobil sets directly from playmobil via their webiste? So, if you find a set on ebay that is missing some vital bits you can always get hold of them that way. Sets that are somewhat incomplete tend to sell for a lot less so it can work out well to do it this way.

We have the Playmobil Castle - the one on a big rock with knights etc.

The boys were given it when they were 5 & 3, and we all had great fun building it for the first time marvelling at the detail (such as the little bits of overflown beer foam). They never really played with it fully since then, and I actually decided that it is time to chuck it out - 8.5 years later.

Can't go wrong with the castle, lisalisa -- ds was given it for his 5th birthday and played with it every day for about a year.

llamaduck · 05/07/2005 13:28

Yay that was my suggestion

Ds loves it - still plays with it - friends play with it too when the visit (ds's not mine)

  • I was awen but then i was re-born
llamaduck · 05/07/2005 13:29

Ameriscot - am also interested

coldtea · 05/07/2005 13:44

Ds(5) has this he loves it & has had so much fun with it. If you could buy it cheaply it might be worth it but tbh it isn't made very well & the pieces fall off.

Hi
New to the forum as I have seen on google that someone has instructions for the 3750 pirate ship and we are desparate for these - struggling along trying to make it all fit together! So if the person who has managed to get hold of these is still out there I'd really appreciate them.
Thanks, greens.
