Amby Hammocks

I know they've been recalled in the US last month and were providing some sort of additional safety device.

Does anyone know if there have been any developments since? I'm expecting in 10 weeks and as DS1 suffered with colic and reflux, I would love to use one for DS2 when he arrives, but obviously don't want to take any risks.

Any advice or information appreciated - cheers

Check the Amby UK website, they have a press release there. I have one but tbh I found a moses basket to be more convenient: the footprint of the thing is huge and you can't move it from room to room with you.

I used mine for 12 months with DS, had no worries but I used a nappy clip breathing alarm. He never rolled in it but we only put him in it once he was asleep or really tired. DS didn't sleep a wink till he got his. However, I can't stop thinking about the man who lost his baby boy in one and the agony they must be in. I would check out all the websites first.

Amby state that in both cases the hammocks were not assembled correctly.

I read that too but a family member or friend of one of the babies who died stated that that was incorrect so not sure what to think. Of course, it is all rumour as we don't know all the facts. Still, I think it is best to read as much as you can and then make a choice!! I just read the dad of the little boy is suing Amby.

I'm on my second one. Had one for DD, she loved it until 11mo when I moved her into a cot. Just bought another one for DD due in April.

Amby UK are providing a safety kit to any customer that wants one from the end of Jan according to their website.

Thanks all for posting. It's difficult what to do for the best. I hadn't really looked in detail on the Amby website, as I thought their view would obviously be very biased.

I am going to look into what the safety kit comprises and how it works.

Thanks again for posting.
