Wall-mounted bike rack or holder

I'm getting a bike - yahoo! - on the proviso that it's stored so that it doesn't get in the way, as we're in a limited-space, two bedroom flat. What is the best wall-mounted bike rack, and how far do the bikes stick out from the wall?

You can get ceiling hooks with a line which you pull to rise them up. As well as floor hooks or wall brackets. Just google it - take into account floor height and think creatively. We have ours horizontally attached to the roof of the shed! We unhook them to lower them.
