Hippychick Hip Seat

Apologies if this is in another thread, have had a look and can't see it. Does anyone have any comments on hippychick - good or bad? Dd is 12 months so too heavy for babybjorn (for me) We have a back pack but it seems such a fag to put on that I thought this seemed a good option for speed and ease. Any comments welcome!

We have one, but I wouldn't use it for dd (13 months - almost!!!) for long distances, other than to the pub (at the end of the road) or to walk to my friend's house (10 minutes away) as my arm gets tired supporting her weight.

We got one for the same reasons you are MimsMum, but hardly used it really. Wore my Baby Bjorn to death, and also had back pack which, like you, found a bit cumbersome to get on/off with speed. My main problem was out shopping with dd in pushchair - she'd last so long, then want to get out. So, I carried the Hip seat in the buggy to sling on when she wanted to get out (but not walk!). It worked to a degree, but I felt it had a very limited lifespan. It wouldn't be suitable really for longer distances etc, so would agree with cazzybabs. Also made my arm ache a bit.
However, think I've read a good few responses frompeople before who loved the Hip seat, so I guess it's just what you make of it at the end of the day. I like good use for my money, and felt £35 was a bit much for something I didn't get really good use out of.

I just got a floppy backpack much like the baby bjorn but it goes on your back. It's super wonderful. My dd is a fat 8 mo. It's great for travelling and shopping and it folds into nothing so you can put it in your handbag. I don't think it would work for all day walks or hiking as withtout a backpack frame it gets uncomfortable after a while. It's made by Pinpon (french co.) and I ordered it from Happypeople(?).

I love the hipseat!

I can carry 20lb dd around the shopping centre for hours.

No time to add more!

Strange.....

It was about 11.30 when I posted the last message!

Tried it out yesterday at a national trust property- wasn't keen but ds2 (16 months) is wriggly and wants to walk everywhere. I prefer something like the huggababy sling where he's kind of tied to my hip - and it provides better support.
