DD2 received this for her 6th birthday last week, and as DD1 was out at a party all yesterday afternoon I decided to be a good mommy and spend some time doing 'interesting activities' with DD2.
Now I don't blame the person who bought this present, as DD2 has been desperately requesting it for some time, but I'm becomming disillusioned with the standard of cooking/craft products which we are subjected to.
In short, Cookie Creations - Fabtastic Food is crap! You need to purchase suitable biscuits which should be round in shape so I bought 3 types - Rich Tea, McV Digestives and Hobnobs. Of these, only Rich Tea didn't crumble into hundreds of pieces once in contact with the Cookie Creations shaping drill (yes, you've guessed it folks - basically the product is a battery-operated file surrounded by useless, brightly coloured plastic).
I found it really difficult to handle the shapes provided (cheap plastic stars etc which didn't secure onto the biscuit) and DD2 had no chance! With patience and determination, we did end up with 5 oddly-shaped biscuits which DD2 duly decorated with icing sugar and sugar hearts which I found in the cupboard. She was reasonably happy by the end of it all, but it just leaves me very grumpy.
Ok it's not the end of the world, but am I the only one that gets fed up with the tat we are convinced to buy our children?
Rant over.
