portable DVD / in car players - which one to get?

Hi,

We're looking at getting either two portable DVD players or a twin screen dvd player for our car. Benefit of the portable players is that we can use them on flights. However at 2.5 is my youngest too small to use a portable player? I read that some portable players can also be attached to the head rests of cars?

Does anyone have recommendation of what are good ones and where is cheapest to get them from?

Thanks!

We have twin screen ones for the car headrests, one of which can be used on its own (it has a foldaway stand thingy on the back).

They have the advantage of making the children look up so less risk of car sickness (which DD2 has been prone to in the past) compared to a screen on a lap.

thanks.

Castille, what brand is yours? Am I right in assuming that you can use it as a general one screen portable DVD player and also optional to have the second screen activated ?
Good thinking of the car sickness issue I hadn't thought about that...

I had to get it out to look... the brand is Lenco. Not one I'd heard of but DH did hours of internet research before buying.

Yes your assumption is right - one of the screens is the main one where the DVD goes and with controls on, the other can be connected to it if you want, and turned on or off when connected.

Thanks that sounds like the best choice for me too.

We looked for one with the fewest wires as Ds2 at the time was little and his legs flailed a lot.

The screens come with a big velcro strap that fastens round the headrest but also a strong safety strap that you put around the headrest first whilst you manhandle the velcro straps on.

We have one wire that connects the two screens together and another that plugs into the car cigarette lighter.

Make sure you have enough cigarette lighter sockets, my car has 3 in total, 2 in the front so we can run the sat nav at the same time.
