This thread is very old now so some of the guidance may be out of date, but if you’re here looking for a fryer to cook indulgent treats to perfection, we’ve recently updated our best deep fat fryer page with plenty of great Mumsnetter-approved options. We hope you find it helpful.

Love mine - pretty easy to clean which was a bonus. With mine you can't fry with the lid on so it can be a bit whiffy. I plonk it on top of the hop with the extractor on to use it, but I guess other models from other manufacturers will enable you to fry with the lid on.
This parsnip fritter recipe is the sole reason for buying a deep fat fryer - they are to die for and I'm someone who doesn't like parsnips under normal circumstances

Well thats it he can have it for Christmas then! The one we're looking at also has no lid for cooking but apparently you don;t need it to keep the heat in and it makes everything extra specially crispy.

Bit wary of your parsnip recipe though as I can't stand them, in fact would go as far as saying they're evil!!!! Honestly, you think you're getting a lovely roast potato then..... YUCK! But maybe thats just me!

Thanks for getting back to me.
