If you regularly get the MoneySavingExpert.com email, you may have seen an offer for free products from Vistaprint. I had already ordered some Christmas cards from another place, but decided to use Vistaprint to get a few extras.
I placed the order, confirmed, and paid for the shipping through Paypal. As the payment confirmation page came it, it said as a special offer I could get free shipping with a few other items as long as I ordered in the next ten minutes. One of these items was a customisable stamp, and it had filled in my address details on it. I thought it would be handy for doing return addresses, but wanted just the address and not my name on it. The sample displayed had only my name and first two address lines, not my city and postcode.
I clicked on 'Order Now' thinking I could edit the details of the stamp before confirming the order. NOPE! Once you click on it, you can't edit, can't remove it from your order, and aren't ask to confirm. By clicking anything in that bonus section you've immediately ordered and paid for it. I tried hitting my back button, but within a few minutes I had an email telling me I'd ordered this useless stamp with no city and postcode.
I emailed Vistaprint immediately through the help section on their website to complain, and got an email saying to expect a response in two business days. Instead I got an email telling me my order (including this stupid stamp) was on its way!
So phoned their customer service today, waited on hold for ages, and complained about the deceptive way their bonus ordering works. They immediately offered me a merchandise credit, but I demanded a refund which they eventually did (after checking with supervisor).
Just hope by posting it here I can save someone else the trouble!
