Quick question about nintendo ds and 5 year olds?

If your 5 year old ds was lucky enough to have a nintendo lite would you/he see it as a problem if it were red? Dp is fretting about the colour. He is concerned that other children will think it babyish or girly ... the kids around here have a habit of saying things like that! Ds loves red I might add!

No. I would say that red is a very unisex colour (if not erring on the boyish side). I wouldn't count it as girly at all, particularly as they also make pastel coloured DS.

If he loves red, then I'm sure he'll love the DS - I'd go for it!

DS got a ds (?!) last Xmas and wanted a red one for ages and then at the last minute changed his mind and wanted a green one. Red is not girly at all.

I think it will be fine .. it is dp that needs convincing. I know black would be a safer bet but it is not available as a console only with the £30 discount - only bundled with professor layton. Red is younger and fun which I like ... I hate to think his contemporaries would take the mick though. Ridiculous isnt it!

I think that the general idea that children are cruel and bullying is wrong - most children won't bat an eyelid at other childrens' stuff unless they are told that they're uncool by older children/parents.

I wouldn't worry as long as he likes it.

Game had the black DSi with Mario Kart and rhythm something for £140. I got ds a red flip and play case for £10 to go with it.

Think my 2 would have preferred red, only black DSi were available at the time (Sep) but the case was a hit. It's been great as it was dropped a few times.

my ds whos 5 has a ds in red, it has never crossed his mind that it might be girly.........men drive red cars

DS2 has a pink one (his choice), DS1 has a green one (ditto) None of them have had any weird comments (except from adults with regard to DS2s)
