I got ds1 this (well not this one, but basically the same - £5 from cheap book shop) for xmas when he was 5. He LOVED it. So much that he asked for this for xmas when he was 6.
I got it, he hasn't used it very much! But it still has alot of life in it.

Thanks for that looks good, I'm wondering how it compares to the John Adams hotwires. Wondering if they're the same,do diff things,if either would be better for a 6 year old. Might get dp to have a look

I think the hot wires is basically the same kit just different packaging. When I looked at them last year the Camb Uni one seemed the better value (I got it for £27 I think) but they all seemed to contain much the same.

We have had Hot Wires and it is good. There is more than one level of kit though, and they are a bit expensive (but not when you compare it to a video game that no one thinks twice about buying).

You could try maplins, they have a load of kits in at the moment, from about £5 upwards.

John Adams are pretty good IMO for other things. Santa is bringing one of the Hot wires electronic kits here in a couple of weeeks so I hope it is good.
