I'm thinking of asking for one for xmas, thought it wassn't really worth spending a fortune as i'm just a beginner. Would probably use it forr making cusion covers, maybe children's clothes if I'm feeling adventurous, what do you think?

My DD had the red mini one for Xmas last year cost £50. It is still going strong. Dont think its meant to deal with heavy fabrics just light cottons - enquire in John Lewis as I knew nothing about these machines and they were as ever very helpful

If you want to do anything more than light repairs or machining small lengths of lightweight material I'd suggest buying a full sized machine.

Thanks for that, maybe I'd be better off with a full sized one, apparently Dunelm do a decent beginners one for around £60.
