Paddling Pools

We have one of those non-inflatable collapsible paddling pools. Okay so they are great in the fact that they do not puncture but they are very difficult to fill up with water. I have just been out in the garden putting it up now and had to stand with it so it filled up enough that the water could hold it up to fill it up further. Don't bother getting one if you're thinking about it. Not the best I've come across.

got a brilliant one yesterday at ARGOS - Twenty quid, 8ft diameter, great for older children. DD happy as larry when she came home from school yesterday and saw it (and me floating in it!!

I got a cheapo one in Argos as well, £3.99, it's only small, maybe 3ft-4ft but it's for a toddler and a baby so doesn't have to be huge.

Kayleigh · 22/06/2005 14:09

SPARKLER1, we had one of those the last couple of summers as I was worried our cat would burst a blow up one. Obviously he never went near the thing, and you are right, it was an absolute pain. Kids always tripping over edge and letting all the water out. Going to get a blow up one this year - the one you got in Argos sounds good kbear.

KBear · 22/06/2005 14:11

It is perfect for our garden as it's not enormous but big enough for a 6 year old to swim in as opposed to paddling. It's yellow on the top with coloured bits all around the edge. Can't wait to get home tonight and have a swim!

oliveoil · 22/06/2005 14:13

this one

Kayleigh · 22/06/2005 14:19

kbear thanks a lot - it looks perfect - have just reserved it at our nearest argos to collect later !
By the way did you make it to the city lunch today ?

lunavix · 22/06/2005 14:22

I like the look of this or this although I've heard elc ones are better quality just poor choice.

lunavix · 22/06/2005 14:25

Does anyone know where you can get a hose that fits onto your kitchen tap? I need to pull it through the window as we have no outside tap.

Kayleigh · 22/06/2005 14:28

lunavix - the round coloured one is the one that kbear has bought and I'm going to buy. It looks great doesn't it.

Sorry no idea about the tap - have you tried a garden centre - they may do a kitchen tap adapter type thing.

Twiglett · 22/06/2005 14:29

so pleased to hear this, in a totally supportive way you understand , as I was umming and ahing over one but decided it would've been too big anyway so got an inflatable instead

Sponge · 22/06/2005 14:37

Any garden centre will sell a hose adapter for a kitchen tap (I assume you mean a mixer tap). If so you need one of these

Gobbledigook · 22/06/2005 14:40

We had one with 'hard' sides last year and it was a right PITA to fill up for the same reasons.

Dh got an inflatable one from Tesco - it's big like the family pool someone posted earlier but we got an electric pump to fill it with air - done in 2 mins! Fab!

KBear · 22/06/2005 14:40

Kayleigh - I am LIVID (well a bit!) - just been telling a friend about the pool I bought yesterday and discovered it's been reduced to £15.99. Don't you hate it when that happens!!!!

Excellent for you of course!

Yes, I did go to the City meet-up - just me, NQC and her lovely babe and Beachy. Had a good chat and were serenaded by a band playing in the park too.

KBear · 22/06/2005 14:41

Newsflash - ARGOS paddling pools reduced!!!!!

Blossomhill · 22/06/2005 14:54

I got one like this from Superdrug for £10!!!!

Kayleigh · 22/06/2005 15:13

Kbear - wish I could have made meet-up by had to wave ds1 off on a field trip so working from home today. Hope to meet you next time.

The paddling pools must have been reduced today then. That'll teach you to be so organised !!

KBear · 22/06/2005 15:16

Kayleigh are you SE London?

KBear · 22/06/2005 15:17

meant to go on to say .... because there's a greenwich park meet up on 5th July.

TrophyWife · 22/06/2005 15:20

little tip for any one with a LARGE blow up pool, put a cover on it or your find next doors cat drinking out of it and leaving holes in the top ..

LGJ · 22/06/2005 15:29

Have you tried throwing a football at it

Kayleigh · 22/06/2005 15:51

KBear · 22/06/2005 16:05
