Kitchen appliances, child safety

I went looking for new kitchen appliances yesterday and called at a number of stores for prices and advice. Currys where absolutely rubbish, not just their prices tehe. I asked about safety features for my kids and they told me to 'keep the kids away from the kitchen area' I mean, how exactly? Lockthem in another room where I can't keep an eye on them! Idiots...

I got sorted out in the end at my local Euronics store in Markethill, Dalzell's. I'm posting their web address because they were soo helpful and actually knew what they were talking about. www.armaghelectrical.com

Induction hobs are increidbly safe, safety features on oven doors, hob hot indicators etc etc. Soo much to know.

do you work for them or something?

Perfectly reasonable response from Currys. [[http://www.babydan.com/default.aspx?id=1073&recordid1073=111 This] is the only effective kitchen appliance safety device.
