Tomee Tipee drinking cups

I have just brought DS a couple of Tomee Tipee drinking cups and there seems to be a plastic spike that fits underneath the drinking spout partially blocking it. Does anyone know if I leave it attached or snap it out?

If it's the ones I have you twist the spout round clockwise half a turn and the lid fits into the recess in the top

is it a bottle to cup trainer?

Leave it on, it's what stops it leaking

Its a bottle to cup trainer, 6 months plus.

... but it doesn't even look like it should be snapped off

I think my daugher had this cup, I think that the little ones have to bite on the spout to get the fluid out, its an anti leak thing - I think

Water didn't seem to be coming out so I tested it myself and you really have to bite/suck hard to make it come out, this is why I am asking.

My ds seemed to really like it and bit the spout hard with no probs but you're right they seem to take a lot of effort don't they!

u leave the spike attatched hun as it keeps spout in place to stop leaks.

pink u do have to bite the cup but somehow the little ones manage perfectly fine with it...maybe its us and our 'older' teeth..lol My ds loves the tommee tippee cups and can drink a huge cup of milk in a minute through it so obviously they master it..lol
