Need advice on which pushchair, Maclaren, Obaby, Mama's and Papa's

Hi all

I have managed to get a credit note( from Argos) on my travel system - limited budget of £119.99 and have to spend it there.

There are two (maybe three) that I have to choose from: ok here goes....

Mama's and Papa's beat buggy or
O Baby Atlas stroller (with the circles on!)

The other option, would be to buy second hand to use for a period of time whilst we get the money together for a Maclaren Techno XT (which Argos don't do!!).

So you can see my dilemma, could you please give me some advice, sometimes I feel totally clueless!

I bought a second hand XT from Ebay for £80 inc delivery and it was fine, would that be an option for you and put the credit note to christmas or something?

On the other hand the M&P beat seems to me to be just as good as the XT, I had my XT for a few months then traded it for a BJCM as I hated having 2 handles not so good when you have a toddler to hold on to. But I also used the Beat when visiting family for 2 weeks and it seemed sturdy enough and I found it easier to use than the XT.

Although I am a dumbass sometimes and in all the time I had my XT I could not for the life of me figure out the bloody recline everyone else could just not me

Oh good someone just like me then!!

I am a true Libran, so I find it really difficult to choose, before I was a mum it was chocolate bars I couldn't choose, now it's bloomin' baby products!! ha ha!

My partner said if we did end up just going with the new buggy, rather than saving for the XT then he would prefer the M&P. How easy is it to put the raincover on on this?

Thank you for your advice :D

If anyone else has some more advice then please do comment :D

I'm a Libran too

I didn't actually use the raincover as it was in the summer months and the pushchair was borrowed form a friend but it seemed easy enough to do when she showed me, it was just a plain throw over one she had not sure if it was the official one or not.

I found the XT one was easy enough to put on as you just hook 2 little plastic rings on the raincover around the little metal knobs on the hood althoug it did look like it would be very easily torn if DS had pulled it hard enough luckily he never though.

hee hee how funny! sometimes being a libran can be a blessing, sometimes a curse!

Ah thanks for that, the buggy I had before had such an awkward raincover to fit, I always used to get soooo bloomin' soaked putting it on!

Any other people have recommendations?

:D

don't buy the mamas and papas beat its nowhere near as good as the maclaren. i've had my denim mp beat for less than 3 months and it's fauly, my sis told me not to buy one as she had issues with hers, wish i would have listened to her now.

AbiBub · 22/11/2009 23:49

oh dear , I bought the M&P's beat already before I read this message. I guess time will tell? We used it yesterday and found it to be fine, but I was looking at getting a second hand as a spare (just in case).

What was it that was faulty on yours if you dont mind me asking? surely if the item is faulty within three months you should be able to take it back? I feel bad that you have had an issue with yours, I hope that you manage to sort your out.

Many Thanks.

Re Maclaren, it is fab, had mine 5 years, recline is a bit of an arse as you need 2 hands and have to bend down to do it. It has 2 levers just above the shopping basket.

Shopping basket is a pain to get into especially if you have the seat reclined, but raincover is a doddle to put on, very quick when you are getting soaked.

Easy to steer, robust and has suffered a lot of abuse by 2 children and yet still going.

I did see that you had already bought the M&P but just wanted anyone else reading this thread to see why I like mine.

Does the Maclaren Techno XT work for newborns or is it more suitable for toddlers?
Sorry I am clueless on the subject

Thank you
