What are your recommendations for best present for my sons second birthday? Everyone is asking what they can buy him for his birthday and christmas. With both being so close together I am struggling to think of lots of different things.

Any help would be gratefully received!

look on the christmas topic on the thread called something like 'so what are you getting your dcs for xmas' lots of people listed what they're getting.

We got dd1 a scooter for her 2nd b day and she is getting a big girls bed for xmas.

Wooden train set. We got DS one for his 2nd birthday last month, partly because we knew we could ask people to add trains/bits of track etc at Christmas.

second the wooden train set. we've got a basic one but the brio pieces fit in, and so do thomas trains, and my son plays with it every day! duplo or megabloks are also fabulous, versatile and last for years of play. Most 2 year olds (boys or girls) would be overjoyed with a toy buggy and a doll to push in it, esp if you are thinking of TTC in the future.

Im getting my 2year year old train set from tesco £10 then going to buy thomas trains etc to add to it for his bd in jan. Lego as he loves to build, doodler or something creative, books, foldaway kitchen maybe and new bath toys.Ive brought loads of toys in one go and then am going to divide it for birthday and xmas so they have a bit of variety.

also they love cars and garages at this age.

ds got a basic wooden train set from us which he has used constantly. Also loved his duplo and also tools workbench thing that he loves to bit a year later.

Thanks! He already has a train set, and so far just likes to take it to pieces and then ask me to rebuild. Spent most of yesterday doing this!! Have already bought him a garage. Will take a look at Duplo as I'm not sure if that is like some large lego he has already.

I'll try and find the thread you mentioned.

My DS is 2 next week.

We have bought him a thomas aquadraw, a fireman sam truck and his first football.

He also shows great interest in those little drawing board type things that my girls have - the ones where you can doodle and rub it out and start again so we might get him one of those too.

My dad is buying him a wooden train set and my Bro and SIL are getting him a car mat (the printed road on a rug type thing) and cars.

He is a proper little boy bless him..

Books like the Gruffalo, Where the Wild Things Are etc. Those big building blocks (if he hasn't already got them) - Like a bike which is a bike without pedals. At that age our boys loved the Buzz Light Year that talks etc (not used for long - but a real hit!!). Puzzles like Fire Engines etc from The Orchard (I think - have passed them onto 2 year old nephew now).

He absolutly loves the Gruffalo, has been his fav book for about 6 months now. I must read it about 5 times a day!! Loves all those books.

Was thinking about the like a bike, but not sure he's ready for it just yet. Was thinking I'll get that in a couple of months, with any money he receives.

I'll look up the Fire Engine puzzle, not heard of them. thanks
