Slate worktop

Has anyone got a slate worktop - I can find pros and cons of every other kind online, but not slate...

I really love the look of slate, but I suspect it is fragile and needs constant sealing.

not sure how helpful this is... but since no-one else has replied.... we have slate on our toilet floor, so its been trampled on with shoes and appears very tough.
