i had a tom tom ( dh broke it the knobhead) blardy loved it
clear directions, easy to use piece of piss

got a shit one - won't go on motorways -so i have to use a soding map to get close to destination then turn the bloody thing on

seriously you get what you pay for IMO

Tortington · 25/10/2009 22:35

cheeseandeyeballsarnie · 25/10/2009 22:37

I have a TomTom
As one who drives for work to unfamiliar places, I love it dearly, and if someone took it I would sell a kidney to have it back.

Tortington · 25/10/2009 22:43

yes they talk - and you can choose the voices - you can have a woman or a man and you can pay to get different accents and stuff on some models - seriously!

they say " IN 100 YARDS, TURN LEFT"

then in 98 yards it says "TURN LEFT"

YOU CAN ALSO CONTROL THE way you want it measured - you can have it in meters if you want.

cheeseandeyeballsarnie · 25/10/2009 22:45

wow!!!!!!!!and it comes all ready to go?do you just put in in the car?does it plug in to anything?

They have battery but the life is quite limited. They plug into the cigarette lighter for longer trips.

Tortington · 25/10/2009 22:46

you can charge it in the house much like a phone or you can permantly plug into the cig lighter in car - it comes with the arm that sticks on your window

Tortington · 25/10/2009 22:47

thankyou.i think my minds made up!now just deciding which one to go for!

OP posts:
Tortington · 25/10/2009 23:40

but it doesn't make up for common sense
so make sure you don't go down a one way street that got changed last week or something.

you still have to look at the road!

sounds obvious but there are some proper shit drivers out there who end up stood on top of their cars because they drove through a river on the command of the sat nav

cheeseandeyeballsarnie · 25/10/2009 23:42

really!i know theres roads round here(cornwall) where locals have put up signs on little country roads saying 'ignore satnav, this does not take you to unless you want to go via a cowshed'!

OP posts:
Ivykaty44 · 25/10/2009 23:48

You need to update them aswell - not often but it does need to be done.

Otherwise you will find that new roads and housing estates are not on the system and tom tom will have you driving round a field.

the great thing with a sat nav is if you do take a wrong turn or just palin go the wrong way - then the sat nav adjusts to allow for your stupidity and sets you straight again, even if you dont turn around at the next available opertunity
