My dd needs a party dress for her show next month, I want an over the top party dress, a bit like the american pagaent beauty queens. Have been looking on e american ebay, seen a few although the postage tends to be hefty. Haven't got time to make one - any ideas?

Eeeew!!

Do you have any shops selling asian clothing/fabric near you? They quite often have OTT party dresses for little girls, with lots of frills and lace.

Nbg · 14/06/2005 14:48

Have just added that store to my favourites.

Thanks TSAP.

Miaou · 14/06/2005 14:49

Oh, you don't want one like that, TSAP? But they're soooo beautiful.....

TwinSetAndPearls · 14/06/2005 14:53

How can a kid walk in all that polyester and lace??

I might try a trip to Blackburn - Miou

Ah, but just think - if they fall over they'll just bounce upright again, like a weeble

acnebride · 14/06/2005 14:57

Scream!

In fact, S780 is quite nice...

TSAP, where are you? A charity shop near us has a lovely but bit dated small bridesmaid's dress with huge blowsy print, a bit laura ashley on mescalin. Maybe not OTT enough. I'm in Oxford, could check out size etc for you...

Show?

OMG those dresses. I must not let my mum see those because she would buy one for dd. Really.

TwinSetAndPearls · 14/06/2005 15:04

I am in Blackpool, i want silk, net puffy skirts but just not that much.

I quite like s780 but that may be because we are compring them to the others!

nailpolish · 14/06/2005 15:11

Miaou · 14/06/2005 15:11

TwinSetAndPearls · 14/06/2005 15:12

Miaou · 14/06/2005 15:14

I think that one ticks the boxes - would the colour suit your dd?

nailpolish · 14/06/2005 15:14

the pink ones ok

nailpolish · 14/06/2005 15:16

yes i like the pink one, are you going to buy that one or just one like it (sorry im a bit nosy sometimes!)

TwinSetAndPearls · 14/06/2005 15:16

do you mean the first one? Yes due to her rather flamboyant mother she wears most colours!

The American one is $35 postage!!

OP posts:
nailpolish · 14/06/2005 15:17

omg!

TwinSetAndPearls · 14/06/2005 15:18

So maybe will look for one like it! DD would love it anything pink and swirly and she is in heaven, might thik about asking my Mum to make her a dress.

OP posts:
TwinSetAndPearls · 14/06/2005 15:18

Although if I can get one on ebay will be cheaper, nice material is so expensive.

Miaou · 14/06/2005 15:20

TSAP, I think if you are going to go the "whole hog" with the pageant queen look, and it is for a competition, I would go with the red and white one - it's a bit different and will make her stand out more!

TwinSetAndPearls · 14/06/2005 15:27

this one is more tastefull but with a hint of puked up salmon
