We had just switched it on with some chipped potatoes in and luckily my dh was still in the kitchen so managed to switch it off at the plug. Had we left it unattended it could have been quite seious as there were flames coming out of it.

Not very impressed, to say the least, we have this Actifry for just a year and it was a replacement for the first one we had that also devolped a problem { not of the flaming variety though } within the first year.

Please be careful if you also have an Actifry !

yes, i saw this on watchdog a whileback. it's apparently a common prroblem with them!

I've heard that before Glad no-one was hurt.

Watchdog programme on it

Tefal reckons there's no problems and they can't burst into flames

Thanks for the links.

Tefal are talking rot as we actually saw flames coming out of the thing. The Actifry is blackened and scorched and the house smells of molten plastic. I wish we had had the prescence of mind to photograph it in flames but were only focussed on stopping it getting worse.

Very dangerous indeed !
