Maxi cosi cabriofix - replacement polysyrene insert

Hi all

Second baby due in december and am busy locating all the bits and peices I can recycle from first time round. The maxi cosi has been down in the basement and although absolutely fine, was in need of a serious wash, so have cleaned it up ready to go... but upon replacing the covers I managed to snap the polystyrene insert in two. Seem to be particularly impatient and clumsy in this last trimester! Anywho, really don't want to fork out for a new car seat, but am having no luck finding replace, ment part. Maxi cosi are yet to reply to my email... Any ideas?

Ring Dorel on 0208 236 7325 or 01842 767965 and they will be able to help you.

We were told we would need a complete new cover which includes the foam insert think was about £40-45 from Dorel!

Fairimum, you were talking to a fraudster! Dorel just quoted me £13 inc p&p - I called the london number

thank you so much for this thread! My 3yo DS1 decided to pretend he was a digger and ate ours (spat out the chunks though) and I was quoted the £40 for a new cover too.

Wow, breaking these foam inserts must be quite a common problem-maybe a design flaw?
We just bought a Quinny buzz full travel system, and our friend 'stuffed' it in the car awkwardly so by the time we got it home, one of the sides had snapped off along the join. I superglued it back together, but it doesnt seem safe (although have no idea whether the polystyrene is a safety or comfort feature!) so have been gutted to have to continue using our old car seat-such a waste. So I just want to thank you so much for this thread, I'll give them a ring now and order a new insert!

Thanks again!!

Ok just to let you know I was charged £13.99 inc p&p for the polystyrene insert alone.
Anyone who has ordered them, how long to they take to arrive?

Thanks

StealthPolarBear · 16/11/2009 12:47

i ewas charged £12.99 through halfords, took about 6 weeks

This is actually quite funny - Having re-ordered from Dorel, the insert arrived less than a week later (I was told to expect 2wks) I put said insert upopened in box into the new nursery....my 2 year old son clambered on the box to try and get into the baby's cot and managed to duff the box in, thus breaking the new polystyrene insert!!!

Got to be a moral to this story! Typical!
Hey-ho, phoned Dorel to order another one, shared the story with the very nice lady I spoke with and am now being sent one out for free!! Hurrah for Dorel.
