Does anyone know where I can get an Oval table that seats 6 that extends to fit 8? Preferable in a light wood.

No but IKEA do a great oblong that goes from 4ft to 6ft to nearly 8ft in birch?

No use to you I know but it's great for C/Ming cos it's got a white melamine top that can be scrubbed(also do birch top)

Did you particularly not want Ikea? I got one from there which is exactly what you're looking for, it was a few years ago now though so they might had discontinued it.

Evesmama · 12/06/2005 22:21

at my house!!!

lovely light pine...6 chairs with cream upholstery..extends to fit another couple of chairs either side!!

bought it from courts but they've shut now!
?????

The one you are talking about is 2nd on my list if I cant find an oval one. the only problem with it is that I wanted it to go a bit smaller than that when I'm not minding or entertaining IYKWIM. we have huge table atm but its extension leaf makes it go from too small for the 5 of us, to massive. Bran I have no probs with IKEA at all I just can't see the one I want in their catalogue. Evesmama sounds perfect are you selling it?

On the other page is a small one - it goes from 90 ro 180 (I think)
We were going to have 2 of those

bran · 12/06/2005 22:30

Often if you actually go to Ikea they have furniture that isn't in the catalogue, plus if you can wait until the new catalogue is due out (August I think) that is when they bring in lots of new lines, so they might have an oval table back in stock then.

Xena · 12/06/2005 22:31

I might go to the store and have alook this week. What one did you mean KM? I'm looking now

Xena · 12/06/2005 22:36

Oh I need it to be able to seat 8 when I'm minding Evesmama.

OP posts:
Evesmama · 12/06/2005 22:38

it would seat 8, just we only bought 6 chairs..seeing as theres only three of us..but i need several chairs for my large arse

Xena · 12/06/2005 22:38

Did you mean the Kloffsta? Katy. That wouldn't be big enough I don't think but actually the one on 198 would be ok

Evesmama. I like the idea of a round/oval table as you don't get legs so you can get more round it if there children.

Xena · 12/06/2005 22:42

Must go to bed thanks for your help. I'll check in the morning to see if anyone else has any ideas.

OP posts:
KatyMac · 12/06/2005 22:44

Yep

We can get 10 round mine with 1 leaf and about 14 with 2 leaves

Evesmama · 12/06/2005 22:44

yeah this has got lovely shaped base running along the middle.

Janh · 12/06/2005 23:01

Is this any use, Xena? The centre leaf seems to tuck away very neatly and pedestals are always easier to get the chairs round. 45" extending to 62".

Or this one which is double pedestal and longer (55" - 71").

Evesmama · 12/06/2005 23:06

that second one is same as ours only not laqured[sp]

Janh · 12/06/2005 23:07

We have a round table from IKEA (years old, they don't do it now) which is 46" diameter plus 2 18" leaves. Our chairs are beech farmhouse ones, larger type for bigger bums like mine, and we can squeeze 6 chairs round it as a circle, 8 with one leaf (ie 64 x 46) and 10+ with 2 leaves (82 x 46). (No leaf storage in it though, have to hide them behind a door!)

Not sure if you could get 6 chairs round the single pedestal pine one at 45 x 35. Could get them round the 55" one though.

Xena · 13/06/2005 12:20

JanH those links are great thanks. The 2nd is exactly what I want. The one you have from IKEA is the one that I hoped they'd still sell (and it would have been cheaper from there too)

OP posts:
Janh · 13/06/2005 20:05

Well, yes, it was cheap, but not terribly sturdy - it has a sort of divided pedestal, and when you have the 2 halves pulled right apart with put both leaves in it's a bit wobbly. That double pedestal solid pine one will last forever!

Xena · 13/06/2005 20:12

They have got it as a dining room package which has 6 chairs (chairs work out to £50 each which isn't bad)
Although looked in the Next directory today and they had a nice one which had went from a 4 seater to a 6 and then 8 which would be good but the expensive bit is the chairs.

Janh · 13/06/2005 20:31

How about this set? Similar table - bit darker maybe, but only £500 (it's bigger too). And delivery included!

(I'm off on a google hunt!)
