Which scooter after mini micro scooter?

Ds is 4.5 and I was wondering whether Christmas or his birthday would be the right time to get him the next stage of scooter. He loves the one he has but I assume they move on from the 3 wheels pretty soon. What age did yours move on and what type did you get?

I think the next one is the maxi, which has just the knob you hold in front (phnaar)
Currently around 100 british pounds

I love the look of it (very pricey though!) but won't other kids take the mick as it has 3 wheels? Ds started school this term and has already had an older child say that his scooter is for babies. Quite a few others in reception have the mini micro scooter but I would imagine they will upgrade soon too!

I've not seen any of these at the school. It says from age 6 .. but I can't imagine ds wanting to use his until that age!

i don't know about particular models, but scooters with big, pneumatic wheels are the most fun for a) going really fast and b) parents to steal

it may end up coming down to money ... not sure if we would want to stretch to £90.00 for a scooter - they do look good though.

ok so looks like funds are too low to stretch to the maxi scooter ... any other suggestions?

DD1 had the next Micro one, the Lite Micro from 4.5 and it's really good and cheaper.

vacaloca · 08/10/2009 13:58

Cheaper here but I think you can get 10% MN discount with GLTC (the link before).

Hi,
Looked on this board to post exactly the same question myself, so thank you all for your help. My DS is still very happily using his mini micro at 5yrs 8mo (he is quite small) and I am worried about him being called a baby too, lots of year R kids have them, but he is the only one in yr 1, so Father Christmas has got his thinking cap on.

bodiddly · 11/10/2009 20:19

thanks everyone ... haven't been online for a couple of days and forgot my original post. Will look at that other lite micro vacaloca ... and let me know what you decide MrsDinky!
