Dh is a sucker for gimmicks and gadgets but is also in charge of bathtime. Any idea if these bucket things are any good?

It's here

it struck me that it wouldn't be very easy to wash baby in them, as not much room.

also, wouldn't have thought they'd be very good fora newborn , having to have them sitting up

TrophyWife · 06/06/2005 17:37

ahhh cute.
sorry no help i know but cute pic...

Hulababy · 06/06/2005 17:38

I wonder how easy it would be to wash baby too.

MRSflamesparrow · 06/06/2005 17:38

Can ya not just stick em in a normal bucket - probably cheaper and do the same thing!!

I had one of those plastic moulded bath seat things for DD - they sort of lie back on them, and you only need to hold them to do their back. She loved it.

mcmudda · 06/06/2005 17:44

TBH the more I look at it, the more I think it really is a bit of a con. Ds survived the first few weeks in our bathroom sink, so I imagine the next one can too

Anyone actually used one?

I have one, the tummy tub here and my son loves it keeps him warm and he can play in/with the water longer.

I would recommend it, but I have the clear one.

He hates the baby bath tub.

JoolsToo · 06/06/2005 17:45

looks like a washing up bowl

Twiglett · 06/06/2005 17:46

this is fab and all you need till they can sit up

norash · 06/06/2005 17:47

It's really easy to wash them as well.

mcmudda · 06/06/2005 17:50

Excellent pictures on that site Norash - really cute!

Twiglett - can't get your picture to load, but will have a nose in the Mcare catalogue in a min.

i used a tummy tub whilst in hospital with my ds nearly 5 years ago and he absolutely loved it. Couldnt buy them back then but will defo buy one for this baby!

Hulababy · 06/06/2005 17:53

We had a simialr thing to this . Was great.

norash · 06/06/2005 17:54

They are FAB aren't they Bonkerz.

babaworshipper · 06/06/2005 18:40

after 9 weeks of screaming bath times we in sheer desperation bought a tummy tub. She loved it straightaway - then cried when taken out!

We then retried the bath - same old screaming! We used until about 8 months I think then she would go in the big bath either alone or with one of us.

norash · 06/06/2005 18:54

I was lucky I bought the tummy tub before I went to have my son, he was bathed twice in hospital in the baby bath and the screams could have woken the dead.

I have never tried it again (when I came home that is). He too cries when taken out of the tummy tub.

norash · 06/06/2005 18:56

best buy so far. Sorry guys but I cannot praise it enough it saved me from bathtime screams.

misdee · 06/06/2005 18:58

am i a bad mother then, as i only fill the bath to about 1-2inches deep, then lie my baby down. she kicks and splashes that way.

no gimmicks for us.

LionTamer · 06/06/2005 18:59

me me it's fab!

Am Giraffeski by the way, CBA changing my nickname back.

norash · 06/06/2005 19:07

Misdee you are not a bad Mummy, infact I think you are a Fab Mummy as you are doing what your child likes and what works for both of you.

misdee · 06/06/2005 19:25

i was kidding lol.

i'd be worried about dropping them in the bucket, ot their legs going in wrong.

that is so cute worth having a baby just to put it in one

LionTamer · 06/06/2005 19:53

misdee you don't drop them because you don't need to hold them! They really like it, they feel safe and can enjoy the water much more because they stay warmer in it (because they are in it deeper).

I had a long talk with the woman who sold me mine, they are common practice on the continent and she says lots of hospitals and midwives are buying them for use in hospitals/birth centres/own children etc.

LionTamer · 06/06/2005 19:54

You just do that when they are out and you top and tail them. As long as they have a good soak its ok.

LionTamer · 06/06/2005 19:54

that was to kama btw
