Where do you buy socks for your ds?
cupcakes · 03/06/2005 16:29
I have always bought ds (who is 5 on Weds!) socks from Baby Gap and found them brilliant. However, his feet are now too big for the baby socks and the Gap Kids boys socks are rubbish. Really boring, no decent colours or stripes.
Where should I look now?
Tommy · 03/06/2005 17:07
Depends what he likes! My DS1 (3 years but enormous feet) likes his Thomas socks from M&S. Also have apme plain ones from Tesco - lots of colurs but no stripes I'm afraid (and cheaper than Thomas!)

He likes things that you don't often find on socks (like pirates and spaceships) so I tend to stick to plain colours or stripes.
Tescos is a good idea (although I'd have to make a special trip). Are they a good quality?
Tommy · 03/06/2005 17:33
We have the Value ones which aren't great but OK until he grows out of them but the regular Tesco ones are fine.
bubblerock · 03/06/2005 17:50
I've always bought all of ours from Next as they're not to expensive and really nice colours. Me, DH & DS1 (6) have got black ones with colours on the toes so it's easy to match them up and DS2 is only 19m so has multi coloured Next ones - Always found them great quality!
SoupDragon · 03/06/2005 17:54
Bog standard school socks from Tescos, coloured ones from H&M.
The "not value" ones (iyswim!) from Tescos seem fine.

Baby Gap and Boots Mini Mode mainly but it doesn't matter what brand I buy he kicks them off ...
Libb · 03/06/2005 18:19
Tescos here, seem to stay on really well too - and DS is the meister when it comes to sock removing.
popsycal · 03/06/2005 18:21
next
they are the only ones that stay on and fit their chunky legs and wide feet - very much like gap with the plasticy stuff on the bottom
vickiyumyum · 03/06/2005 18:59
gap and next. i'm surprised the ones in gap don't fit your little one, they alwasy seem to come up big on my kids.
the ones in next wash well and come in a few different designs the only problem i have in next is that once they go past the 6-81/2 size the choice is a bit plain and boring.
i just brought some nice ones in asda, don't normally shop there but wa surprised at some of the clothes and underwear and brought loads today!

dd now wears Baby Gap's 4-5 size as they don't do a 3-4 and they are fine on her (she is 2 btw!). Ds is almost 5 and they are really snug on him - to the point where he has difficulty taking them on and off by himself.
Really wish the Gap Kids socks were as nice as the Baby Gap.
Will have a look at Next.
Anyone tried M&S?
spursmum · 04/06/2005 10:28
i buy most of my ds clothes at asda as it's cheap, great designs and washes really well! my ds has a habit of stretching everyhing when he takes it off so i'm forever buying new bits and bobs!
Blackduck · 04/06/2005 10:50
I use M&S - 1.50 a pair or 4 for a fiver. They have a range of colurs (but not stripes in the range I buy - the ones with the writing on the sole which helps them not slip if they are wearing them without shoes.) They are good. Have just had to throw a pair of others out (no idea where they came from, but they aren't cotton) cos of the smell - ds has incredibly sweaty feet
vickiyumyum · 04/06/2005 10:51
have brought socks from m&s in the past, have to say its not my first port of call, but felt that they were ok! again limited choice in colours and designs once they reach the 9-12 size. but they wash nicely and are as good quality as the rest of m&s's clothing.
loulabelle222 · 04/06/2005 10:55
socks from baby gap are lovely (only thing i buy in there) ive got a few pairs from tchibo which wash up lovely. Matalan are colourful and cheap!
