Booking flights! Grrr.

I need to book flights for a summer trip.

I want to go from Heathrow to Toronto, then from Montreal to Heathrow. I will be flying BA.

BA's website doesn't understand this sort of trip. (And their phone line will charge me £15 per person extra to book. On a 0870 number.)

Travelocity doesn't seem to acknowledge the existance of people under the age of 2.

Justtheflight will only let me go a->b->c, and because BA doesn't do flights from Toronto to Montreal (duh), it won't let me book. (nice website though)

So it looks like I have to deal with Opodo, who I've had bad experiences with in the past (DH needed to cancel a ticket, they said he could, but they would charge him - as in, he'd have to pay more than the cost of the ticket to cancel it!).

Any tips?

We recently had problems with the BA website trying to book flights. However it turned otu that one of the ones we wanted was already full so it just kept throwing up weird alternatives but no explaining why or giving us any option to change the parameters.

I know it would be a pain but it might be financially worth your while to book a separate single flight from Montreal to Toronto so that you can get a return flight from Heathrow-Toronto-Heathrow.

Alternatively, if you plan a long way ahead for you next trip as well you could back-to-back two sets of return flights. So you book one set of return flights Heathrow-Toronto-Heathrow with the return part coming back when you want to return from your next trip, and one set of return flights from Montreal-Heathrow-Montreal with the return to Montreal when you want to fly out on your next trip. When DH was living in Berlin and I was living in London we used to do this all the time to take advantage of cheaper flights if you stay a certain number of days.

Oh, bran, Montreal and Toronto are part of the same um, mumble, mumble, so it just ends up costing what a LHR->Montreal->LHR would cost. The price is fine, it's just finding a website that will let us book it. I've ended up with an unused Montreal->Toronto flight in the middle before, for free, but that's fine. I just want to book my flights!

Have you tried e-bookers? Or I've found Travelbag very good in the past for flights.

Hmm, travelbag and ebookers seem to be the same place. At least they both respond to multistop flights by asking you to phone them, or fill in a form and they will phone you. I'd rather not deal with anyone on the phone if I can avoid it ...

Thanks for that, Flossam, re: travelocity, I will try them, then, and see what sort of quote they give.

Oh, good, opodo can find the flights (lots, with choices), travelocity can't find any. Grr.

Well, anyway, we're rethinking dates now.

Sorry, NQC I didn't get that you want to do it on-line, I usually just phone Travelbag if I'm using them.

I really prefer doing things online, when I can.

Expedia seems to be doing it just fine. I'm sure I'll find a reason to hate them, too.

Oooh, Mosschops30, do you know the word for why I can treat London->Montreal->Toronto->London as the same as London->Montreal->London?
