Baby swing troubles

Having trouble with Graco baby swings - anyone else?

OK so it may be because we are cheapskates and buy 2nd hand but for the second time the Graco Advantage battery operated swing has stopped working on us. i had one for ds1 and it was brilliant - 2 years later tried it for ds2 and it only lasted for two weeks before the swing stopped swinging - music still worked so something has shorted in the circuit board. Just borrowed one from a lovely friend and after two weeks we have managed to do the same thing again. i will have to buy a new one to replace hers anyway but wonder if this is a common problem - Graco want £35 for a new motor but there is nothing apparently wrong with the motor anayway so I'm told by engineer friend!

Having come to rely on the swing during times of stress (!) i.e. to deal with ds1 or the pack of builders currently crawling all over my house doing an extension I am a little tense at the prospect of coping without.

Feel better already having ranted about it!

Very strange Hughsie, especially for it to happen twice. Is there anything different about the batteries you are using this time round, we tried rechargeables in our swing and it didn't work very well (didn't seem to have enough power to keep swinging) and I have heard occasionally stories of certain brands of batteries not working with certain brands of toys.

Uncle seems to have fixed it in both swings - he thought ot was a loose wire but stuill seems strange to have happened to both of them. i intend to return the borrowed one quickly and make do with the original - although after he left it was playing up again which implies it would not help to get the motor replaced anyway.

We weren't using rechargeables but may try a bnew set of batteries anyway
