has anyone got the gears toy for kids under 7?

My ds2 is just coming up to 4 and he really seemd to like the gears toy at nursery.
I've looked online and they seem to aimed for kids 7+

I just wondered if ahy of you had any experience woth them and think a 4 yr old could use them sucessfully...

DD had something similar, called Cogglies,from Boots or Mothercare, very similar, soft foam, much cheaper, a bigtime favourite. She was about 3 or 4 at the time. Ds still plays with it
