What an offer! I can't see a catch either.....

lou33 · 24/05/2005 16:58

i know someone who has one of these, the deal is good but the phones are rubbish apparently

NotQuiteCockney · 24/05/2005 17:01

I can't see the contract duration explicitly anywhere - is it twelve months?

The charges for minutes and texts above the contract number are a bit high, but not ludicrously so, I don't think.

Looks like a good deal.

lou33 · 24/05/2005 17:01

or did they say network coverage?

i think it's 12m and it goes right up afterwards

starlover · 24/05/2005 17:03

i would research the website too,....

TracyK · 24/05/2005 17:06

the £1.99 has an asterisk next to it - but can't find the explanation of it anywhere.

NotQuiteCockney · 24/05/2005 17:14

The network is 3. I don't know what their coverage is, I do think they're a bit desperate to get market share.

I assume that at the end of 12 months, you can move to another provider/contract? Checking would be wise, though.

hmm.......think i will ring them to find out.......

Kelly1978 · 24/05/2005 17:28

They are both pretty cheap phones, and the line rental is low for 12 months then goes up after the offer period, to £30 for 18 mnths. Plus, they usually work as cashback - u have to pay up front then send off ur bills for cashback. I've got a similar deal with a better phone.

Kelly1978 · 24/05/2005 17:29

soz, meant £30 for 6 mnths - totalling 18mnths. That's how mine works anyway.

TracyK · 24/05/2005 17:30

the line £1.99 is only for 10 months only

ok i rang them......there is kind of a catch.......you have to pay £15 a month line rental for 3 months then £30 for the next 9. At months 3, 6, 9, and 12, you get a cheque back for the line rental, so you have to send in all your bills etc. So it is a cath in a way as you have to fork out for it to start with but then get your money back afterwards. So there you go!!

Flum · 25/05/2005 12:01

ie you pay it. and they bank on it being such a hassle to claim the money back that you don't get around to it. I suppose.
