Sony Vaio NS30E/W is it worth it??

My husband has offered to get me this for my birthday in 3 weeks. Has anyone got one and could they tell me what they think? I'm really set on a Sony Vaio and I do love the white but DH thinks I could get a Dell or a Toshiba with better specs....He thinks I would sacrifice function for looks but I just don't want something ugly!
