Just to let those interested know, that Superdrug are selling the white Avent soft spouts, I spotted them a few days ago and they had a good supply.

My local Woolies had a whole Avent section

eidsvold · 16/05/2003 07:56

are they better than the non spill ones - would love dd to try and use a cup but I have trouble trying to get something out of those non spill cups let alone a 9 month old!!

SoupDragon · 16/05/2003 08:05

They're just a variation of a teat really - they used to look like the mouth piece of a recorder Ah, remember those from Primary school...?

BTW, with the Avent Magic Spouts, if you leave out the plastic thingy and bendy disc, they work like an ordinary spout. Then you can put the non-spill bits back in when your child's suck is stronger and they've discovered how to make "milky rain" with their beaker all over the sofa/brother/dog.

eidsvold · 16/05/2003 18:20

thanks for that soup dragon!! She does the odd bit of rain on her own head at the moment but we are in baby stages of cup drinking...

Marina · 22/01/2004 14:12

By ANY CHANCE AT ALL does anyone know if Superdrug are still selling these? SoupDragon describes the old-fashioned one I am looking for perfectly - like the top of a recorder. We have one from ds' days (he's 4.5 now) and it is currently the only spout/teat that dd will drink from. I can't see it holding out much longer, being scrubbed and sterilised several times a day is already taking its toll.
I'm nowhere near a decent-sized Superdrug at home or work, so can't just pop in, but am prepared to travel miles to get a couple of spares. Any leads appreciated...

emmatmg · 22/01/2004 14:44

Marina, nowhere does those ones any more as I'm in the same boat with DS2, Boots do a similar one, it's blue though and a bit fatter than the avent ones, I have 2 here that my young man hates, if you want them you're more than welcome to them just contact me through the talker thingy. Might save you a trip to the shops at least.
I'd be interested about places that sell the old aveny ones too.

Northerner · 22/01/2004 15:05

If you go to www.baby-supplies.co.uk and search under manufacturer for avent, they have them. They are displayed on page 3.

HTH.

Marina · 22/01/2004 15:15

Northerner, thanks, it looks like a great site and I've bookmarked it, but unfortunately the spouts they sell are the new, Magic ones. Dd won't drink from them at the mo although we keep trying her with them. The ones I and emmatmg are after are really quite old now
Emma, I have mailed you via the site - thanks!

madgirl · 22/01/2004 15:39

oh dear, i fear the worst. have spoken to an avent helpline who told me they don't do it any more i can't believe it - this was the only way by ds would take a cup. so is superdrug still stocking them- don't understand

Marina · 22/01/2004 15:52

Don't know, madgirl...I hoped from the way Melly posted that she was referring to the old-style white spouts - not the newer Magic ones. Isn't it ANNOYING when manufacturers withdraw a perfectly satisfactory product and replace it with one your baby won't touch
So that's definitely it according to Avent themselves Oh dear.

madgirl · 23/01/2004 08:47

yes it is very very annoying. i know i threw that spout away after ds and i know i'll want one for ds2/dd1
i am going to surf on the us sites and try and get one from over there. how sad am i????

The Boots ones are very similar to the old Avent spouts (but blue). Tommee Tippee spouts (on the bottle that looks a bit like a rocket) are also very similar, although they fit best on a Tommee Tippee bottle and not so well on an Avent.

Marina · 23/01/2004 10:08

Pamina, YES! Bit like a cat's eye...frankly I wouldn't care if one of your kittycats had been at it if it was the right one
Florenceuk, that's two recommendations I've had for the blue Boots spouts now, they must be a very good match so I am off to Boots this weekend to check them out.
Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and tips.

emmatmg · 23/01/2004 11:35

Hi Marina, don't bother checking in Boots as I've posted them to you this morning

I put a little note in the parcel and I'm just hoping it makes sense(I'm terrible about leaving entire words out, brain moving faster than hands) as I was frantically trying to get DS1+2 ready for school and trying to get DS3 to drink his milk, whilst also getting the change bag ready for baby clinic, and of course get myself ready. Wow I am a multi tasker aren't I. Sorry if it's all gobbledy-gook.

Marina · 23/01/2004 11:36

thankyou Emma!
